Beautiful Muskoka

Continuing from where I left in the last post. As we left Algonquin and headed to our hotel in Gravenhurst town, the route itself (ON-60 and ON-11) was very scenic. The hotel stay was comfortable and it was a clean place. Breakfast was neatly packed in a bag and staff handed it to us at the front desk. Gravenhurst seemed like a small town with lots of scenic places.

We decided to visit "Lions Look Out" first but as soon as we joined the main road, we saw a lake in front of us. It was like an underrated jewel but hard to miss. Other than the famous great lakes, Canada has been blessed with thousands of lakes and the ecosystem that these lakes support is vital to the sustainability of this region. Below is a panoramic view of the place and, as you can see, it has everything such as Trees, playground, picnic tables, a cute sand beach and lake view to make it a great picnic spot.

The colors at this places were more prominent than what we saw at Algonquin, may be we were couple of days late to visit the park and the peak may have already left. At times, I feel the camera doesn't do justice to the magnitude and scale of the view that mother nature puts on display. Still, we humans keep trying to capture frames that will help us create our happy place in our mind with all these unforgettable memories.

we spent an hour here and kids had a blast!! They ran and tagged each other and we clicked dozens of pictures. Even the kids were posing which is quite unusual. May be the place and its beauty got to them as well. After a lot of convincing, kids finally agreed to hop in the car again and we continued our journey to "Lions Look Out".

Lions Look Out
I will take a backseat for a while and will let the pictures do the talking. As its aptly said "A picture is worth more than a thousand words"

I wanted to keep looking at those heavenly views and we spent a lot of leisure time at this place. We drove to the top of the hill, clicked few pics, roamed around on the abandoned  rail track and then decided to move to our next spot- "Hunters Bay Trail".

Hunters Bay Trail
This is not a typical trail that runs through the woods. Rather, it is a wooden bridge built on the lake waters. At times, the bridge shakes a bit but its still sturdy to support all the foot traffic. It doesn't take much time to complete this trail and you can finish this in 30 minutes. However, we took our own sweet time and our little ones decide to explore more. There's limited parking available at the spot and be mindful of not blocking the parking spaces of local business.

We had one more spot to cover "Huckleberry Rock Lookout" as the sunset view from there makes it worth visiting. However, as it was a cloudy day, we decided to give it a skip and head back home. The insatiable desire for a hot cup of masala tea was also partly responsible for the early return.

Again a word of caution that kids should be monitored closely on all these spots as there are high cliffs and deep waters around. I know the excitement of clicking the best possible picture and absorb as much of the natural beauty as possible but still there are hazards that we should all be wary of and keep your kids close to yourself.

I hope this reading gave you a glimpse of the beautiful Muskoka which is very rightfully tagged as a placed "Once discovered, never forgotten". Till then happy traveling and happy reading. I will try to write experiences from my previous travel history till we manage to visit a new place.
